4 major differences between windows vista and windows 7

Differences between Windows 7 and Windows Vista
1. Peripherals are integrated in a smoother manner:
Now, every time you plug in a plug and play device, you will be having a different experience each time. Because this time, Windows 7 has turned its peripheral detection and support, more device central rather than shooting just an auto-run option as it used to do in Windows 7 and windows Vista. This will be more helpful, when you will be using different kind of peripheral devices. By far, almost all kinds of devices will be supported with the necessary drivers. And as if its not enough, Windows 7 will help you find the website of your peripheral device's manufacturer, and allow you do more than what you could have done with the auto-run interface only. Just for an example, say you plug in a camera, Windows 7 might take you to that manufacturer's website, where you might be having an option of uploading your photos to an online album. Best thing is, you won't be running out of drivers for your peripheral devices, as Windows 7 has been included an ocean of such drivers, and if by chance the driver is not existent there, Windows 7 will find it over the net for you.
2. Very much improved UAC:
The only problem, that was always discussed in most of the forums, and many questions which remained unanswered, and so many users who left the with an unsatisfied soul; will all be changed. Finally, we will be getting rid of annoying overprotective dialogue box that used to appear almost all the time, even when you changed the cursor speed or installed a software; as Windows 7 has shed overprotective dialogue boxes but still maintaining the quality protection against malicious attacks. Windows 7 will only display messages when major settings are changed.
3. Brand new taskbar:
What do you have at your bottom right corner of the screen? a set of icons which keeps popping up balloons one after another, giving an illusion of fancy lighting in a wedding? Well, don't worry anymore; as in Windows 7 Microsoft has made sure that you have the complete authority to change the settings required and allow or disallow only the required icons and also change the settings for notifications that might appear on screen and probably annoy you. Even the small little triangle that used to expand into the taskbar revealing all programs that are running; is gotten rid of. Now at the same place, if you move your cursor, you'll be getting a list of processes that are running.
4. Super fast performance:
Probably this is the major improvement upon Vista, which will heighten the sales of Windows 7. Microsoft had promised that it would deliver an Operating System that would be much faster than Vista. And yes it did, when the beta version of 7 was released and was tested. Windows 7 has very few startups process, and hence unspoken of, loads very fast. And in fact there are very few processes that run in the background and eat up memory cycles. But, anyways, performance of final release is yet to be tested. But till then, 7 have been rocking.
Comments
Sounds good, windows Vista is very bad and now 7 is shaping up to be nice.
The article is very nice.
Been running Windows 7 for 3 months now and loving it so far. Very fast startup and shutdown times, I have build 7100 and performance is rocking, visually stunning and very well thought out. But there is a little triangle on the taskbar but it open upwards and you have full control over your machine and programs.

Microsoft has put themselves in a bad situation with Vista and 7. If Windows 7 is a big improvement over Vista, people are going to feel ripped off. If Windows 7 offers little improvement, Microsoft damages their reputation; it is lose, lose situation for MS. Offering a service pack to fix Vista will save Microsoft's reputation, but then there would be no need for Windows 7.
I agree with the idea of " Microsof should offer a service pack to fix Vista as they were doing with XP" . Therefore Windows 7 would not be necesary.
believe me i have the final versioni installed on to an ide hard drive an i was shit slow (as you do i blamed microsoft for poor design) but then i installed on a 3gb transfer sata hd an its absolutey rapid, they did as was promised this time
Nice blog post. Windows 7 is beyond an upgrade from Windows Vista. I have updates all the time for Vista for my home laptop, however, there are many new and great attributes for Windows 7. Clearly, Microsoft is trying to tell us that Windows 7 will be a completely new & enhanced UI experience.
Thanks
Are you sure Windows 7 would not be necessary. After all, if all of those changes are to be made, then it would take a lot more than a 500 MB download. It would need a whole DVD!
Microsoft should offer a free upgrade from Vista to windows 7, because I feel cheated {since I have bought 1 Vista Home premium HP NoteBook in Jan 2008, and two pack of Vista Business Software for my office PCs in the month of March 2008}. Vista have a lot of Problems, it should be upgraded with time slot of purchase. Microsoft can do it! it is a reputed computer software company.
One cyber cafe guy has burned on a CD a window 7 ultimate for 100 rupese is this the same orginal windows 7.and what are the big diffrence between windows 7 and vista.
Guys, guys...
Lets just stick with Windows XP.
I am in agreement with the majority of unfortunate consumers that had spent their hard earned dollars for some so called "new and improved" version of windows. I have had more problems with windows vista than I have had medical and marital problems combined. I too feel cheated and agree that there SHOULD be a free up grade to Windows 7 from vista. It was a rather cruel joke to the public. "IF" Microsoft wants to make amends they should humble themselves and allow the free upgrade. Or face the reality that they have scammed a loyal consumer base that (if they haven't already)has lost faith in their products.
I was using vista ultimate for 1 year, frankly it was EXCELLENT, stability, security, very fast , and all applications can be run on it, 2 days be4 i installed 7 ultimate, do u want my opinion?? I am going back to Vista!!!
yes i am saying it loudly, i like vista so much .....
I know that 7 has some more features like homegroup , bitlocker, play on and so on, but at the time being, vista is A1
To Jay B, lol... that's not a bad suggestion at all as I have been running XP Pro solidly for wow, how many years now?... and still doing so! (will be changing soon though)
But on a valid note, my brother is still using Vista on his notebook after highly tweaking it out and he will attest that it is still a decent OS platform (except for some minor gripes...aka darn popup security windows). So for all you Vista owners out there that don't want to switch, you don't really need to. You can make Vista fast if you know what you're doing by eliminating a lot of the unnecessary background processes and bloatware that comes pre-packaged in your system that bogs it down. Now, Microsoft has just done that for you and added a few more bells and whistles (which is what they should have done to begin with) and called it Win 7. I must say I haven't heard of many cons on Win7 yet so I think it is worth the upgrade for those that don't already have Vista. For those that do, well that's entirely up to you if you want to spend the extra $$ to have a more "refined" product.
just my two cents.
guys windows 7 rocks
I´ve got windows 7 since 3 wks now.
All fine except the old windows explorer and right click issues.
Google it, you will see how many users are affected.
I´m sick of microsoft
I had same idea with Dr Arif coz we might need to get free upgrading chance for window 7 who bought the laptop with window vista. Also if we can say the vista SP2 ...it is better than to use the name window 7..coz when u r upgreading by changing the new name and selling so...user will get worry upon microsoft...when is gonna b more new OS version again..when should we buy a new version again..somethings like this........just the idea...
i think wendow 7 is same like window vista.the only diffrence is window 7 havw better colors and littile more speed then vista
Hi
I have been an User on windows since a long time since windows 3.1 and have seen lot of changes and by far XP is the best I have Windows 7 dual boot with Xp though the reliability of XP reflects a lot in Windows 7 as the core processing system and concept belongs to Xp and the lokks improved from Vista I rely on both and have full confidence in windows & . I am loving the way it has performed and is wokring . The only problem is Drivers fro Printers which is not Microsoft fault .
Windows 98, and XP Proffesional are the best windows from all 95, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 Proffesional, XP Proffesional, Vista and windows 7 is very good, but the economy is not that good to be upgrading computers everytime they come up with a new windows, next time a windows WILL require 4 GB of Ram, 3 Ghz of speed and more space of hard disk
windows7 is cool.but still vista is also good.
It makes me so mad that Microsoft has such a grip on computers and can do what ever they want. They release a Piece of crap OS, then a year later release windows 7 they way vista / long horn was suppose to be, and then people go give them more money. I will tell you they have lost me as a customer.
hi guys,7 is far better than vista duo it depends on personality.thanks
hi guys,7 is far better than vista duo it depends on personality.thanks
I HATE VISTA!!!!! Before I throw in the towel - I am rushing out to buy Windows 7 today (my last attempt before throwing my computer out the door & starting over)!!!! Talk about "hanging chads" - VISTA hangs more than any system I have ever experienced. Some type of software push was just done the last couple of days, and now the only way I can log onto my computer is in the "safe mode". I will be in the middle of working on my computer and all of a sudden, my system downloads some additional unwanted software pushes and my system is more awful with every new "push". I have attempted to "Restore" my computer to an earlier setting, but then the "push" is just shoved to my computer again. I agree, we all need a REBATE and an apology for such a sorry product. What WERE they thinking and what were WE thinking buying this disfunctional product.
It works perfectly, I'd love it lot.
These all comment are right, but in my point of view windows 7 is heavy then windows vista and windows xp, Xp is the name in which Microsoft make a place in the world technology.
Windows XP is better and better if you check is speed and UAC and everything ,xp is better.I used all of these but i come back again to XP..... Great OS of MICROSOFT.
great hub love your article its unique and it seems like you worked very hard writing this hub thanks for the excellent information. I really enjoyed reading your hub with a nice cup of tea and chocolate.
Hi! I have a W7, and it kind of stinks. I still like XP better, and i will always stick to XP. I've been running XP for more than 5 years, and it is still fine. I have mac too, but it kind of stinks with wifi problems. So, just stick with your PC.
We all know how much the upgrade (or rather, the downgrade) from XP cost. Now they're trying to force us to get Windows 7. MS is cheating our money. Let's say the next version is crap. And we buy it. We'd end up paying for the next one, which is better than the one before but not as good as the one at the beginning. And the next one is the same. And the next one, and the next one...We'd end up paying multiple times the price for something that actually is better than the one you actually wanted to upgrade from in the first place.
Well I have vista so those with windows 7 tell us which services are not running in the background may help us with this crap os
Compairing those to operating system functions are same but little upgrade in window 7 dat much
you know i dont get ppl i fell ripped off i payed $ 200 for something that is little to no differnt than vista vista 2008 version is smother though all they did and the only way you can tell the differnce is the bars at the bottom and windows 7 is taking credit for what vista did and does
all they did was make very slitley faster change the tab bars make th movie maker more crummmy and add some new backrounds
i agree with you Jaybee!
I have tried every Windows OS since 95. Used nothing but Macs at work for a publishing group and I must tell you the best OS I have ever come across is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
Not kidding, and no, it's not because it's free. It is so much faster than Win Vista and 7 it will blow you away.
Win 7 was using more than 1 gb of ram right after start up and just to sit idle. Ubuntu used 250 mb to do the same thing. If you're worried about flashiness and pretty graphics Ubuntu can do that too. There are multiple desktop managers available and Compiz Fusion beats DWM (MS desktop windows manager) hands down. As a matter of fact you can make Ubuntu look like Windows or Mac or make it your own. Windows 7 Starter for netbooks is a joke. That's why some manufacturers are pre-installing Ubuntu Netbook Edition and this actually is helping to keep netbook prices near rock bottom. So if you want to continue feeding the MS beast go ahead and figure out which of the dozen versions you want (Europeans also have the pleasure of "N" versions. lol),
shell out the bucks because Windows 7 Pro is not cheap and let's be honest, any version less than that just won't do.
I'm not here to promote one thing or another. I've used all the aforementioned operating systems and am just providing you with my honest opinion.
The downsides of Windows 7 are its system requirements (Direct X 11 Cards For Instance, Nvidia has only 2 and their prices are steep. I can't trust ATI to be up there with Nvidia, they have no PHYSX). Also, I really doubt if people have taken into account that their PC hardware has become faster with its multi-core processor. Does windows 7 fully utilize the multi-core processors abilities?. Would Windows 7 run faster on a single core processor based system than Vista would ?
both of vista and windows 7 can never compete with windiws xp vista is not good due to errors but windows 7 is hanged very fastly and suffer very rapidly with viruses ,windos xp is the best till date
Microsoft has made powerful OS i.e windows 7, if you compare Vista with win 7 than you will find windows 7 is more faster than vista with more graphics, but windows 7 also does not support Oracle..and also it does not connect to the othet OS like XP and Vista for a home network... :(
I have not upgraded to windows 7 yet. I wanted some feedback but after reading the comments I think i'll be upgrading. Here I come Windows 7 so long Windows Vista!
I read all the comments, but the problem is not vista; problem is improper handling. You all are blaming vista but the big truth is that the windows seven has been improved from windows xp. If you can see the windows 7 and xp closely, then you will find that what i am speaking. And now about vista, windows vista is no improvement of any OS, it is brand new, it is fresh and original and one. when the vista was released on that time so many soft-wares were not made for vista, it was for only xp. and now about speed, actually speed does not depends on OS, it really depends on you and your computer configuration. For example if vista has given you instruction that minimum RAM for installation is 512MB, and you know that vista is heavy system ,then why you go for vista. obviously you will get low speed and that's mean it is your mistake to use vista. In my opinion the windows 7 is good but it is copy, it is not original, it has certain properties of xp; but look at the vista, it is original, it has not properties of any other OS, it has its own; it is not a copy of any version of windows. I really think that vista has different properties than Windows 7 and Windows XP. It has different look than xp and vista. If you have seen the software installing dialogue box of windows seven then you will find that it improved from xp and not only this is proof but also there are many proofs which can prove the windows 7 is improvement of xp. where there is another choice is Windows Vista. And in my opinion Vista is turning point of Microsoft windows. The glass type appearance is the concept of vista, which has been stolen by windows 7, but original is original. Guys Vista is not mistake of Microsoft, in reality we are not deserved to handle the great thing and hence the Microsoft had to do the windows seven which is not best, i think we have lost the gold and we have got silver in payment of price of gold. Remember it Windows 7 never best than Windows vista, though it has some more features but basically the vista is complete change not windows 7, windows 7 has properties of xp.
