Fun Facts About Marijuana
Marijuana also known as cannabis, reefer, pot and ganga has been around since prehistory. It became popular during the 60 and 70's. It is a psychoactive drug which is made up of dried leaves of female plants. It can be rolled and smoked like a cigarette or smoked in a bong with water. It is illegal in some countries while others have reduced and even let people smoke it openly.
The effects of smoking marijuana are almost immediate. The smoker can experience a faster heartbeat and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes and a dry mouth and throat. This drug will effect and impair your memory, concentration and co-ordination. There are those people who smoke marijuana because they have a terminal illness and it makes them feel better.
People can become a marijuana smoker by peer pressure through friends or even family. In this article we will try and uncover the lighter side to marijuana with some fun facts:

There are three main types of marijuana. Canabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, Cannabis Ruderalis. You may have heard of something called "Skunk Weed"? This is a hybrid of Cannabis Indica.
The reason marijuana is illegal is because in the 30's cotton growers lobbied against hemp farmers. They thought that the hemp growing would just be competition for them. However, the argument has become the fact that marijuana is not as addictive as caffeine, alcohol and nicotine.
Today hemp is actully used for many purposes. It is primarily used in making clothing but it can also be used in other fabrications like rope.
Sterilized hemp seeds can be turned into bird seed. I wonder if that is what is in my bird feeder? It does seem to attract a lot of birds!

i'm sorry jr, but i've never heard of anyone dying from pot. personally, i love pot for it's purpose of calming my whole system down. just like in pineapple express, seth states that pot 'makes you feel better, food tastes better, even sex is better!' it's only when you abuse pot that you can end up a 'low life.' if you use pot in certain incriments, or until you know your limit, you should be okay when it comes to using. there's no way to overdose, like you could with alcohol or drugs. unless, you smoked your whole body weight. it's hard to believe it could be physically possible because most people can't even smoke 15 grams in one sitting, let alone 1 pound! i'm all for legalizing. let's get out of this depression and put the U.S the way it's supposed to be.

I couldn't agree more with you pumping. If anything we should be making the laws tougher on people for possessing marijuana. In fact I believe law enforcement doesn't do a good enough job. When they find marijuana on someone they hardly ever force the issue to find out who delt this person the drug. If they made really tough penalties, this would make the buyer, or whomever got caught with a small amount, cooporate to lower the charges against them.

The only way you can die from pot is if you get into a car accident. You can't overdose. There are 0 recorded deaths from solely pot. There are pot related deaths but not from the drug itself. Plus, as far as smoking goes, you can always vape. Gets you 40x as gone and you don't have to deal with the smell or tar build up. Just beautiful THC vapor =)
Wendy why would you want tougher charges on marijuana users. So that the jails can be full so they just relocate a murderer or a rapist. If i want to unwind with a drink in my own home there is nothing against the law about that. but if i want to unwind by taking a hit from a bong which is way less damaging to your body there is. Marijuana is a plant just like tobacco. People who are against legalization make sense? I believe someone said drugs smell and are gross. While were at it lets put laws on carrots because it helps our eye sight. Marijuana users are less violent and ANY person who is in-toxicated would not contribute anything to society. There have been no deaths from OD'ing (which is impossible since not one person can smoke there body weight in marijuana let alone a pound) and not one reported case of lung or any cancer for that matter found from smoking marijuana. You let the tobacco industry put so many harsh additives and chemicals in cigarettes that actually cause cancer let alone kill the user. Any time there is a trace of THC (active ingrediant in marijuana) there is always alcohol. Alcohol kills your liver and makes you do things you wouldn't normally do. You have no control of yourself. Marijuana no matter how much you smoke will EVER make it so you cannot think for yourself. If you do something you regret while high that's on you. Alcohol alone and tobacco alone kill so many more people than marijuana has ever in however long it has been used. There is a little fun facts educate yourselves and I can bet some of you people would say I would never do drugs with a cigarette in one hand and a beer in the other. Just because its legal does not mean it is not a drug. Any mind altering substance is a drug. Let me smoke what I choose and let me put into my body what I want. Weed is a wounderful thing that should be treated with respect and used with responsibly. Just like any mind altering substance. I belive it is here for us as humans to enjoy. And i will gladly endulge, But at the end of the day it is a personal choice.
Marijuana is not addictive does not impair your memory or kill brain cells there are millions of people in the US that smoke weed. Judges smoke weed Lawers smoke weed Doctors smoke weed. its just some people are idiots and abuse it. I have a cousin that has MS he can't even stop shaking but once he smokes some weed its a completely different story he can talk and sit still.

For anyone who believes that I should not have the right to smoke Marijuana, please show me concrete, unbiased proof on the advantages and disadvantages of Marijuana use and not outdated beliefs that are based on experiments that have been proven invalid or simply wrong. More so, and more importantly- please show me where you derive the authority to dictate how other people their lives. For god's sake, google some facts. Just read. Read unbiased research that's based on an open-ended search for the truth rather than the trash that you read that misleads you, misinforms you, and selectively chooses information to feed you in hopes of fabricating a view that matches their own. I am up tonight doing research for an upcoming project on cannabis, and I have found interesting things... some I knew... some I did not... However, here at the end of my digital journey I would like to impart the wisdom I take with me... First, to those who believe pot to be a harmful blemish on society... please do some research... if you have half a brain you will see that the positives so far outweigh the possible negatives your head will spin. Second, to those of you standing up for legalization... please use facts not expletives to substantiate your point.

(i.e. pain, PMS, opiod dependence, glaucoma, IBS)
*hemp uses
(i.e. clothing, rope, paper)
*who supports legalization
(i.e. leukemia & Lymphoma Society)
*what other drugs are used in place of THC
(i.e. methadone, oxycontin)
*death rate
-other forms of consumption
(as to exclude the necessity of smoking the 'drug')
I am not saying that weed is right or wrong but I have some good reasons y it should be legal.1 the government could tax it and make a killing on it and boost our economy.2 it would help clear out jails for people that were put in there for smoking pot this would save taxpayer's money for keeping those guys in jail.3 we would pay less to keep rapists And murderers in jail...so those are my points

This is one of the most bias things someone could say. I guarantee that three fourths of people that have smoked weed in the United States are smarter than you and make much better choices than you. Also, why would you try to make laws stricter for people caught with weed? Smoking cigs and drinking alcohol is much worse. Cigarettes and alcohol should be illegal before pot should.

When pot is taken in your immune system in your body decreases which makes you weaker after the effects of marijuana. the chances of becoming sick or worse raise. As I explore and learn more about marijuana, more and more people become addicted and become sick from cancer or some other disease and die, so do what i did and research some of this stuff your taking into your body and you will see that this stuff you call "healthy", is bad for you

For everyone out there that is against pot, i understand but yall should do a little more research. im a junior in high school and i have a 3.7 gpa and i smoke pot. Pot does not kill brain cells it was a false study in the 1960s on monkeys. they basiclly pumped the monkeys full of smoke with out any oxygen, after the first couple minutes withouth oxygen the first thing that happens is brain cells start to die but the goverment didnt want you guys to know that. recent studys show that weed might stimulate brain cell growth, also there has never been a recorded case with someone with lung cancer from directly smoking weed. and if you looked at it in a political manner, do you know how many jobs there would be avaliable if we leaglized pot for people,i think the economy culd possibly be saved, we could fund the war with the taxes on the plant and we could also spend more time concentrating on bigger issues in amaerican then a couple of kids smoking a blunt. You kill your liver, and you cant even walk in a straight line when you're drunk. I function perfectly fine, matter of fact, I make straight A's in Advance-placement classes, and I smoke every weekend. Im also a starter on our Varsity Football and Basketball team, so don't start that bull shit, saying that it takes it toll on your lungs, because thats a load of SHIT. I'm in, what I think to be, good shape, and I smoke every-weekend. Call me a pot head, but I function perfectly fine when Im high, and you will NEVER catch me with a beer, or cig in my mouth. The ONLY reason that it isn't legal, is because the Government, couldn't tax it. Who would pay 20 dollars for a gram, when I can make a phone call, and have a gram delivered to me for only 10 dollars. I really hope that they legalize weed. I never smoked until about two weeks ago. Before I smoked I never had anything against it, my boyfiend does it all the time and it was entertaining to watch him sometimes. I don't think people should be complaining and saying weed is bad until they have tried it for themselves; it's like saying you don't like a food without ever tasting it.

you know...one major reason most people even start smoking pot is b/c they're so damn curious about what it really feels like to be "high". also, people would probably smoke alot less if they just smoked pot instead of cigarettes. even at lower amounts of THC. A cigarette smoker can consume more than one pack a day just to get that buzz that lasts them about 30 mins to 1 hour. then, after that buzz quickly dies, they have to smoke another cigarette which in turn damages the lungs further. on the other hand, a marijuana smoker could consume about half a joint and not have to smoke again for a few hours, leaving the lungs less damaged and the person more productive at a lower THC level but still feeling great.
The reason I think people think marijuana is bad is because they see the kids who do it. Most of the kids that they see are generally unmotivated, trashy, grungy kids. The thing is that those are the only kids that are willing to do it, kids that will do bad things in the first place. I smoke weed sometimes and I get perfect grades, have a job, and stay motivated. You would be surprised on how many people do it, you only see the people that are open with it.

People who say that weed smokers are lazy and unmotivational are ignorant and blinded by the american society. I work Full time, VOLENTEER in my community, and go to college full time. I dont think I am a bad person whatsoever if at the end of my day, I like to smoke a joint and relax. At other times, I can smoke and get the whole house cleaned or all of my homework done in record time. I feel theres nothing wrong with it at all, its the user! You don't have to be labeled a stoner to smoke, its who you are inside. Nor can you abuse it if you are a sane person. I smoke everyday and I am a normal 22 year old that you wouldn't know the difference by looking at me. I'm not a drugdealer nor do i run around just buying pounds at a time. I'm doing nothing wrong! I'm all for marihuana*. I love it. I smoke it everyday. But I must say that I honestly don't see or feel any change in the way my mind works or processes. My perception on pretty much everything stays the same.. But I can't lie I do get messed up sometimes but most of the time I just feel messed up not my head being messed up. Anyone who thinks pot is illegal because it is 'harmful' to humans or because it gets you high and stops you from learning, is ignorant. Pot should be legal because it is NOT harmful, it would boost the economy and simply because it being illegal is unenforceable. pot had been illegal since 1930 and people have been 'still smoking' for 80 years. The police have had 80 years to eradicate marijuana from our streets and have failed. MAKE POT LEGAL.
personally i am against marijuana but that is just my opinion. i believe other people have the right to take it if they want to. the fact is pot is known to make you unmotivated and stuff. of course this isnt true with everyone (duh) cuz everyone is different. i just dont want to take the risk that i might be one of the people who it does effect, but if it doesnt affect you go for it. also whoever says u can get addicted is dumb all it does is make your immune system ready for drugs more SO it makes it easier to use drugs such as cocaine or heroine, which as we all know are HIGHLY addictive.

-cannabis and hemp are the same (hemp has no THC, cannabis does)
-it can become addictive (facts proving otherwise, pot isn't physically or mentally addictive, and has virtually no withdrawal symptoms)
-"burnout" occurs when the smoker becomes unresponsive (a burnout is someone who has most likely used other harder drugs and has "fried" their brain with said harder drugs)
-marijuana can stay in the body for weeks after use- (marijuana stays in your body for approximately 30 days after the last time you smoke)

-in early colonial america it was the law to plant hemp and marijuana on farms and plantations
-marijuana is used for many medical conditions including: glaucoma, aids, cancer patients, anxiety, chronic depression(recuring), stress, post traumatic stress disorder, mania, migranes, etc. (there are 250 medical disorders and illnesses that marijuana is used for treatment and compfort)
-hemp has no THC, therefore has no reason to be smoked, except to inhale smoke.
