This is a favourite topic since I am Canadian. Canada is the second largest country in the world. Canada is actually an Indian name meaning, “Big Village.”Canada is actually the fourth largest country in the world!

We love our bottled water in fact the need grew in the 90’s to a whopping 300%!

Canada has 60 words to describe “snow” and 18 for “camel.”

Our Prime Minister Jerry Glark won a metal for the javelin in 1972.

The baseball glove was invented in 1883.

Anthrax was actually a Canadian invention!

Vancouver Canada is tied with Zurich for the highest quality of life of any cities in the world.The world’s smallest jail is in Rodney, Ontario.

Canada doesn’t own the North Pole. Many people don’t realize that fact. It is not owned by any country.

Canada is actually home to great inventions like basketball, the electric light bulb, electric range, television, telephone, zipper and the electron microscope.

Canada has the longest street in the world which is the popular Yonge Street in downtown Toronto. It also has the longest highway in the world the Trans-Canada Highway. Canadians love our beaches and we have the world’s longest coastline: 125,566 miles. The Thousand Island Railway is the shortest railway in history at 3.32 miles. Banff Park in Alberta is the oldest national park which began in 1885.The tallest freestanding structure belongs to Toronto. It is the world renowned CN Tower. It stands 553m tall.

Canada has been involved with beauty for many years. The first Miss Canada came from New Brunswick and was crowned in 1923.Canada then cancelled national beauty contest in 1992.

Apparently, they degraded women!

They seem to love their French fries too. Florenceville-Bristol is home to the McCain Empire.

The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world! They rise at one metre per hour. They bring in mineral rich sea salts and dried seaweed which is eaten as snacks and used in soups and stews!

The world’s largest beaver can be found in Alberta at the Beaver lodge!

We take our monster sighting very seriously here in Canada. We have claimed to see Bigfoot, Sasquatch and the Ogopogo! Speaking of creatures the Lacombe swine is the only breed of pig that was developed in Canada.

When it comes to drinks the Caesar was invented in Calgary, Canada. It was invented by a bartender named Walter Chell.

There are hundreds of thousands patents right here in Canada!

Canada has the greatest number of people who hard water fish. In the year 2000, anglers spent 4,489,296 days ice fishing!

I guess guys love their Maxim Magazine because we have more subscribers than any other nation!

Delightful information. I live in California, USA, and have recently discovered Canada. To be so close and yet be so different.
